The national auction market reported a clearance rate of 63.3% at the weekend which was marginally lower than the 64.1% reported over the previous weekend – but higher than the 59.0% recorded over the same weekend last year.

 

National auction numbers were higher at the weekend with 2308 listings compared to the previous weekend’s 2086, and also well above the 1857 listed over the same weekend last year.

 

Auction market results declined at the weekend with lower clearance rates driven down by another big weekend of auctions. The weakening trend is set to continue as usual over coming weekends until years end.

Sydney Market Down as Listings Surge  

The Sydney auction market reported a lower clearance rate at the weekend from yet another big day of auctions.

 

Sydney recorded a clearance rate of 67.2% at the weekend which was lower than the 70.5% recorded over the previous weekend and also lower than the 70.6% recorded over the same weekend last year.

Saturday auction numbers were high again at the weekend with 875 listed versus the 862 auctioned over the previous Saturday, and again well above the 681 listed over the same weekend last year.

Sydney recorded a median price of $1,665,000 for houses sold at auction at the weekend which was again similar to the $1,675,000 recorded over the previous weekend and also similar to the $1,670,000 recorded over the same weekend last year. The Lower North recorded the highest regional clearance rate at the weekend at 76.7% followed by the Inner West at 73.9% and the City and Upper North Shore at 73.0%.  The South West reported the lowest clearance rate at 49.5%. The clearance rate for houses was 67.7% with units similar this weekend at 67.9%.

The most affordable home reported sold at auction in Sydney at the weekend was a 2-bedroom unit at 6/41 First Av Campsie that sold for $535,000.

 

Melbourne auction clearance results

Melbourne Market Down on Big Listings Day

The Melbourne weekend auction market reported a lower clearance rate at the weekend under the weight of a surge in late spring listings. Melbourne recorded a clearance rate of 64.5% on Saturday which was lower than the 66.6% recorded over the previous weekend but still higher than the 63.5% recorded over the same weekend last year.

 

1150 homes were reported listed over the weekend which was significantly higher than the 957 auctioned over the previous weekend, and also well ahead of the 872 listed over the same weekend last year.

Melbourne recorded a median price of $1,125,000 for houses sold at auction at the weekend which was higher than the $1,023,500 reported over the previous weekend and 12.9% higher than the $996,000 recorded over the same weekend last year.

Melbourne’s Outer East reported the top regional clearance rate on Saturday with 68.8% followed closely by the Inner East and the North each at 65.8%.

The Inner City recorded the lowest regional rates at 61.7%. The house clearance rate was 65.4% with units lower this weekend at 61.1%.

 

Melbourne’s top reported auction sale at the weekend was a 4-bedroom house 14 Della Torre Cr Ivanhoe at that sold for $3,621,000. View top selling home here 14 Della Torre Cr Ivanhoe.

The most affordable home reported sold at auction in Melbourne at the weekend was a 2-bedroom unit at 21/56-60 Bishop St Box Hill that sold for $360,000.
